The Fit Girls Marathon Challenge is only open to girls who have participated in a Fit Girls program.

Each Marathon Fit Girl will receive a certificate and pair of Fit Girl shoes laces and is eligible to earn a FREE book through the
Barnes and Nobles Summer Reading Program.

Here are some safety tips for home training
- Remember the buddy system: Never run/walk alone. Parents, siblings and friends make great running buddies!
- ALWAYS make sure an adult knows where and how long you plan on running/walking.
- Never run in the road. Run/walk on sidewalks, in a park, on a track or open field.
- Do not run too far away from home. Small loops around home is preferable.
- Run in areas you are familiar with – it’s always fun and safe to run where there are lots of other neighbors and friends – you’ll probably get a few cheers during your workout.
- Carry a cell phone during your run.
- Don’t run with headsets – be aware of what is around you.
- Never run at night or after sunset.
- Avoid strangers or people acting strangely.
- Put on plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat on sunny days
- Remember to stretch, warm-up and cool-down.
- Drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
- Have fun, laugh with family and friends and ENJOY your workout!!
