Each Marathon Fit Girl will receive a certificate and pair of Fit Girls shoes laces PLUS the opportunity to earn a FREE book through the Barnes and Noble Summer Reading program.

 

The Fit Girl Summer Marathon Challenge is only open to girls who have participated in a Fit Girls program.

Here are some summer safety tips for home training

  1.  Remember the buddy system: Never run/walk alone.    Parents, siblings and friends make great running buddies!
  2. ALWAYS make sure an adult knows where and how long you plan on running/walking.
  3. Never run in the road. Run/walk on sidewalks, in a park, on a track or open field.
  4. Do not run too far away from home. Small loops around home is preferable.
  5. Run in areas you are familiar with – it’s always fun and safe to run where there are lots of other neighbors and friends – you’ll probably get a few cheers during your workout.
  6. Carry a cell phone during your run.
  7. Don’t run with headsets – be aware of what is around you.
  8. Never run at night or after sunset.
  9. Avoid strangers or people acting strangely.
  10. Put on plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat on sunny days
  11. Remember to stretch, warm-up and cool-down.
  12. Drink plenty of water before, during and after your workout.
  13. Have fun, laugh with family and friends and ENJOY your workout!!
