Fit Girls Fundraisers
"We can do no great thing. Only small things with great love"
Mother Teresa
Learning about the mission and working together to contribute to the financial goals of a local charity enables us to feel and see the value of generosity and the benefits of kindness. A positive sense of community and connectedness to others builds self-esteem and confidence.
We encourage teams of Fit Girls to give back to their community and support organizations related to literacy or fitness.
Fit Girls teams have come up with FABULOUS fundraising activities and projects including bake sales, “lollipops for literacy” sales, lemonade stands, bottle and can drives, and designing/selling bookmarks. The goal is to encourage girls to take the initiative in developing creative and “fun” fundraising projects. When girls accept the responsibility and challenge of creating a community service project they are developing imp
ortant leadership skills.
Jaqueline Davie's novel, Lemonade War, is a fabulous and fun story that provides lots of great tips on how to set up a successful lemonade stand.
Here are some suggestions:
Girls Giving Girls the Gift of Health and Fitness:
Fit Girls Teams can support the Fit Girls Grant Program and raise funds for girls in underserved communities. Each girl in the Grant Program receives a t-shirt, water bottle, one new book, and paid 5k race entry to local 5k race. Girls giving girls the gift of health and fitness creates a sense of “sisterhood” between girls in different communities. The Fit Girls Grant Program is sponsored by the DMSE Children’s Fitness Foundation. Contact us for more information about where to send your contributions.

This team of Fit girls raised over $630 for the Fit Girls Grant Program.
Way to Go, Fit Girls!!!
Fit Girls for First Book:
First Book is a national nonprofit with a mission of providing children in low-income communities the opportunity to own and read their first new book. There are many local First Book chapters in the country. Click here to learn more about First Book and how to provide new books to some of the most vulnerable children that live in your state.

Support Your Local Library:
Unfortunately the funding for many school libraries has been substantially cut back over the years. Raising funds for your school library is a great and important community project. Invite local business to “match” the girls fundraising efforts. Local business support is a great way for local leaders to encourage these budding runners, readers and philanthropists
